LONDON ? Investigators trying to identify the body of a young woman found on Queen Elizabeth II's Sandringham estate are focusing on cases of women who have gone missing in recent months, police said Wednesday.
In a statement, police described the suspected murder victim as a white female between 15 and 23 years of age but said they have yet to establish a genetic profile. Testing and searches are expected to continue.
The body was discovered on New Year's Day in a forest three miles (5 kilometers) from Sandringham House, which is at the center of a vast area in rural Norfolk where the royal family retreats for the holiday season.
Police said the body had been there for between one and four months.
British newspapers have focused on several missing women, but police say they cannot speculate about the woman's identity.
Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, were in residence when the body was found.
